The Treat & Train is an incredibly useful positive dog training aid. With the Treat & Train (formerly called the Manners Minder) from PetSafe you will be able to:

  • Reward your dog’s good behavior instantly by remote control even while you are out of sight (up to 100 ft away, even through walls!).
  • Automatically feed a treat every few seconds or minutes. This is the ultimate tool to help teach dogs to be alone and is a great help for grooming and crate training!

Solve dog problems and teach obedience positively with the Treat & Train:

  • Train obedience commands such as "down", "stay", "sit" and "come".
  • Train your dog to be calm when guests arrive and to stop jumping up on or barking at guests.
  • Crate train your dog or teach your dog to be calm when alone. The Treat N Train is great for preventing and working with mild separation anxiety.
  • Train your dog to lay down politely instead of begging at the table.
  • Train your dog to calmly accept grooming such as nail trimming and brushing.
  • Prevent your dog's boredom while he recovers from an injury or surgery and cannot exercise much.
  • Teach your dog agility skill and tricks, which are fun and great for tiring out hyper or energetic dogs.

Your Treat & Train Dog Training System will include:

  • A hand-held remote that can operate on 4 separate channels. The remote control runs on an included 23A-12V battery and works from a distance of up to 100 ft, even through walls!
  • A target training wand with detachable base to teach tricks, heeling, and "go to your bed".
  • Two treat dispenser disks for different sized kibble and treats.
  • The Treat n Train’s dog-proof housing measures 13.5" x 7" x 8", and weighs 4.6 lbs with batteries installed. It will run for approximately six months on 4 D batteries (not included). One year manufacturer’s warranty.
  • Complete instructions for use including an illustrated training manual and DVD.

The Treat & Train remotely dispenses kibble, dry dog food, or treats of uniform small sizes (round tends to work best). Most dogs will readily learn to earn their meals and it’s great for them!

Got this as a mental stimulation toy for my Aussie, but as a training tool additionally. If you understand shaping behavior, it is perfect.

Since I also teach Utility, this will be great for my students for teaching go outs and other work that requires the dog be away from you.

One cute story. My Aussie adapted to it right away. My wife's Border Collie? Well, he figured he'd short circuit all of this. Went up and got the treat twice. Then saw that all the treats were there. Obviously said to himself, "Why do I need to wait, I'll just figure out how to open the top and get all the treats that way.
I am an owner/trainer of dogs and I absolutely love the Treat and Train! I had placed my order near the end of October when my boy, Ceasar had to be rushed to the veterinarian. It was a tumour! A big tumour! He underwent surgery to remove it and the day he came home, the Treat and Train came in the mail. It was the perfect tool to work his mind while his poor body healed! He is the greatest targeter now! We started nice and slow for the first few days, moving the target away from the base a few feet at a time, to now, when he will trot from room to room to find the target or the base. It was a Godsend after his health scare and I can not rave highly enough to do it justice! The Treat and Train is a well built product that is durable even to the most pushy of noses. That would be the biggest difficulty I had. Teaching him not to move the base. He doesn't try to bite the target, but he does try to dump the base. But, we worked on that and he shows some restraint with that now. I am confident that he will stop completely and I will be able to leave it down for longer periods.
Ceasar has a clean bill of health! The tumour came back as a hematoma, completely benign! There was good karma all the way around and the Treat and Train is a part of all of it! Thank you!
We absolutely love this! It's helping our 5 month old rescue pup learn good house manners and self-control, not to mention to love her crate and being alone, because then treats fall from the sky! The only quibble is that when it's on top of the wire crate the treats can bounce out, leaving her to scramble around trying to find them or yank the crate pad up to look for them. Maybe I need less bouncy kibble :) It's also great for exercising our pup in the house, and for training her that strangers aren't scary, because fun food games happen when they're around. A GREAT investment.
As a trainer I purchased 4 of these over a few years and have "loaned" them to clients for calm behavior and quiet in the crate as well as down stays. I recently adopted a Guide Dog for the Blind released dog. She had been trained by the MM developer, Dr. Sophia Yin because she was so over zealous in her greetings. After a week with Dr. Yin and the MM, {Treat and Train} my new girl can lie quietly for release from crate, sit for leashing up and is a great new dog. The TnT helped so much and now it has been faded and I don't need it for those behaviors anymore. But we will be using it for targeting, retrieving and tricks. Thanks for carrying it!
I have received my Manners Minder, thank you. My dogs and I love it!
I received the Manners Minder, and love it. Am considering ordering 2, so both dogs can lay on their mats when the doorbell rings and not quibble over the treat dispenser!
Great product at a great price - I have one already and had to get a second one for my other dog. Great product to help alleviate in a postive way undesirable behavior when company come into the home or when you just need a break while you are busy doing something that you don't need the dog in the midst of!
I have received the MannersMinder and am thoroughly enjoying it. Thanks
Thanks very much for your follow up. I was very happy with both the items I ordered and the service I received from you. The order arrived promptly, well packaged and I felt I got good value for money.

Thanks very much!
Order received promptly and works great!
Would rate this "Excellent" instead of "Very Good" if it had a dual power source (batteries for when a cord won't work, detachable power cord for when an electric outlet is convenient). And if you forget to pick up the target stick between sessions, and your dog chews it to pieces, it can easily be replaced by drilling out a small red rubber ball - the telescopic metal stake pops right out of what's left of the bulb. I'm using mine for distance work in agility, object differentiation (tunnel vs. dog walk), and every kind of behavioral need I can think of for better behaved dogs at home. It's brilliant!
I have received my order and we (me and my dog) are enjoying the remote training system
I received your order recently which included the Pooch Pee Pads and the Manners Minder. The Pooch Pads work very well and I love the Manners Minder. I teach my dogs obedience and rally and was looking for something a little different for my latest dog, a shih tzu. He has been a conformation dog till now so I am starting with a clean slate for him. He has caught on to things very quickly and the targeting and down stay are being perfected now. This machine makes teaching your dog easy for anyone!
I just recieved mine, but my dog loves it! I am using it to solve the " mailman problem". I attached the remote to the mailbox and the mailman presses the button when he comes and leaves. ( after I assured him he wasn't doing anything to harm the dog) The tone is loud enough to hear even over barking.
As a trainer or even training enthusiast this is versatile and fun!! Teach drop on recall, down stay, polite greetings even counteract barrier aggression, fence fighting and perfect for teaching your dog to learn to earn--- toss away that food bowl!
I have a couple of manners minders and they are so terrific for training agility, I use them for rewarding my dogs when they are practicing the dog walk for a running dog walk, the dogs are encouraged to keep their focus forward and head low and I can control if they get rewarded or not. I also have used it a lot when I am training one dog and the other one is raising a ruckus in their crate. I can click/treat with the manners minder from far away, my dogs think when they are quiet in the crate treats rain from the sky. I have found so many ways to use our MM that I have ended up buying three ;-).
We LOVE our MM. Useful in so many ways, worth every single penny!!
