My pointer puppy gets very chilly on these cooler fall nights. I bought the fernie hoping that it would keep her warm and be a good option to layer under some of her other ruffwear coats. So far I have been very happy with the coat. She looks adorable and it works well on rainy days when I layer her sun shower over the top. I was worried about the fit with her being such a thin and deep chested dog. It doesn't fit as snugly as it might on other dogs. But it looks adorable on her and keeps her warmer, allowing her to play and hike longer.

I have a 7-month old male Vizsla pup. This sweater is the best. I previously had a female vizsla who, while being wide open, was not the crazy guy that Niko is. I live in SE Virginia, so the climate is temperate. Here's the deal. I went to the park and put my old dog's coat on Niko and went to play. Inside 5 minutes I was carrying it because it relied on velcro to keep it on him and he wormed his way out of it several times. Two days later I bought a ruffwear sweater and took him to the park. NO PROBLEM. He was his typical crazy self, running, digging, ripping around through the wood chips in the swingset area etc. etc. etc. Bottom line, it never shifted and it never chafed him. Oh and he peed twice and didn't tinkle on the coat. I will warn you. Follow the size instructions provided by ruffwear. My dog qualifies as a medium sized dog and I was tempted to get a larger size than recommended, but the ruffwear size instructions had him in the middle of small, so I bought a small. That was the RIGHT decision. I wouldn't want it any longer, and it is nicely contoured to his body. Great product.

I've tried a lot of coats for my dog (and wasted a lot of money). Due to his mixed breed he has a deep chest and a wide neck which makes it hard to fit him properly with most coats. The Fernie fits perfectly and it looks so damn classy I can't wait for it to get cold enough for my dog to wear so I can show off his new sweater! Not only does it fit perfectly, my dog doesn't seem to have any issues with it at all! I love the fact that it fits close to the body to allow the wearing of a rain or snow coat over it. Now, if I could only get matching Grip-tex boots (in orange, please) then my dog would be all matchy-matchy and dressed for the town. This is pretty important to me since my dog is a service dog and goes everywhere with me in public.
