New convenient rolls! BioBag Dog Waste Bags are a great alternative to plastic poop bags. Clean up after your dog while keeping your conscience clean!

  • Why use BioBags Dog Waste Bags instead of grocery bags or other plastic poop bags? Regular plastic bags (like grocery bags or regular poop bags) are made from plastic that "mummify" your pet's waste forever. Plastic bags litter our streets, backwoods and waterways. Thousands of animals die from eating or getting caught up in plastic debris. Biobags are made from renewable plants, vegetable oils and compostable polymers.
  • BioBags are superior to other "green" bags: BioBag products use no plastics in their production and they use the highest biobased content.
  • They are just great poop bags!: BioBags pack down small and have a silky texture. They are black in color to hide contents.
  • Made in the USA: BioBags are Manufactured in the USA with resin sourced from Italy.
  • About composting with Biobags: Unlike plastic bags, BioBags can be consumed by microorganisms that live in our soils. Because Biobag is made of starches from renewable crops, our bags can be readily composted along with organic waste in municipal composting facilities. BioBag products meet the ASTM D6400 standard specification for the labeling of plastics designed to be aerobically composted in municipal or industrial facilities. Please check to make sure facilities are available in your community. While pet waste is not readily accepted at most compost facilities around the country, there are now a number of communities and parks successfully composting their dog waste and using BioBags as the method of collection. The future looks very bright for all waste separation initiatives. Be sure to do your research about home dog waste composting before adding any dog waste to your backyard compost piles. I am using the BioBags every day and encouraging everyone to get some, too. I was thinking about encouraging the City of Savannah to get some for the dog parks.
It never made sense to me to put something that will biodegrade in less than a year into something that takes thousands of years to biodegrade (i.e. a conversational plastic poop bag). I feel so much better using these. Plus in the spring and summer, I can add them to my compost pile. (But never use compost containing dog feces on vegetable, fruit, or other food producing plants.) In the end, they are not that much more costly than regular poop bags. And you feel so much better knowing you're doing something good for the environment. Just do not stock up too much on them. You want to try and use within a year of purchase as the seems start going if you have them too long (they do biodegrade after all.) Since heat is what causes the biodegrading, I'm testing storing them in the refrigerator and freezer to see if they are still good after a couple of years. If so, I could take advantage of buying in larger bulk quantities to save money. but I need to wait another 18 months to see :)
Have been using them for a month and have had only one instance where a weak bag broke. I have a medium size dog (23 pounds) and would not recommend the regular sized bag for an extra large dogs due to size. Have a couple in compost and they appear to be breaking down appropriately.
I foster dogs of all sizes for a local shelter. My forever dog is an 80lb lab mix. For larger dogs like our lab, the large bags are a must. We use the regular for anything under about 50lbs, I would guess.

These bags also compost as promised, even in my slow, unmanaged home yard composter (don't worry, it doesn't go on any food crops). The bags take about 6 months to a year to degrade completely under these conditions--I would say a few months slower than "regular" slow-composting items like corn cobs, for example. It helps if you don't tie the bag off completely, or rip it right before adding to the composter, so the poo microbes can get to work heating up the surrounding compost instead of dying in the plastic while they wait.
I love these bags. They're easy to store in a drawer or in the car. I coud easily put several in my pocket or attach to the leash with a rubber band. Highly recommend these easy to use biodegradeable bags!
WORST BAGS EVER!!! They tear apart when you try to use them - completely worthless! Such a shame, since I love the idea of biodegradable bags :(
Pet Expertise response: Oh no! I so wish you have contacted us directly so we can replace these for you. Sometimes if Biobags get a little old or kept in a warm space they start to biodegrade early. It is a pretty rare problem and we would be happy to get you some new bags.
