Dog Training by Jess Rollins Testimonials
"Jess Rollins is an outstanding trainer and a caring person. She understands our dog's reactions to different situations, and realizes that sometimes it's the owners who need the training even more than the dog. We have known Jess for a few years now and we don't know what we would have done without her - she's not only our dog trainer, she's our good friend, and Gracie and Gigo are the best of buddies."

"We would highly recommend Jess for working with your dog. Many training techniques have changed in recent years, and she is acquainted with them in depth. She was contacted through our daughter, who recognized we were in need of assistance. Our dog developed a neck sensitivity which we found difficult to handle. When we tried to put a collar on him he bit our hand, and did the same with the Vet. She was able to remedy this problem completely, and with her help we have not had any trouble touching his neck, or putting on and removing his collar.
After that we entered a training program with her that lasted through eight or nine sessions. She took us step by step through jumping up, nipping, down, squeaker come (when we were having trouble with the come command), barking, bell training for housetraining, collar touching, stationing, and leash training. She was so patient with our dog so that he was always happy to see her. She brought her dog with her, as well as another dog she was boarding, to have him develop a dog friendly relationship. She also worked on other aspects of socialization with people and new places. You can tell from what I am writing that she covers a lot of territroy in each session.
We also want to mention she has a very nice personality and shows a lot of strength and poise in her handling of dogs. We had a number of laughs through it all also, and that helps when you are dealing with training. There is something special between a dog and an owner which is irreplaceable. We certainly think Jess will provide the training necessary for this relationship." - - John and Lotus and their Sheltie, Mac
"Jess Rollins has a way with squeeze cheese. Squeeze cheese and ham bits and dried liver and kibble are her weapons of choice - along with her faithful clicker and her bottle of bitter apple spray. Jess in fact will use any philosophical, psychological, developmental and pacifistic lure or means she can find to get through the thick skull of your little puppy eactly what that puppy should do to live happily, peacefully and lovingly in your household. Jess also has a way with puppies. One look, one whiff, one word from Jess and they are obediently doing everything you ever wanted them to do for you. She loves dogs and they love her back. The most hyperactive and recalcitrant pup is soon eating out of her hand. Jess is patient. She is willing to have her hand chewed on by a puppy. She withstands puppy bonks and jumps and bites. Jess calmly tries the same trick again and again to shape the result she wants and is willing to alter her techniques to match the personality of the pup. Jess Rollins has a way with people. Patient and durable she explains the full spectrum of necessities in puppy care from house training to dental care, feeding to traveling. She is willing to demonstrate again and again the clicker techniques and practices, to clearly explain the training philosophy, to be flexible enough to alter her training plans to work with emerging problems. Jess does all this in a calm, kind and friendly manner. You will be glad you have chosen to work with Jess. And so will your puppy!"

"I have a pomeranian named Oslo that Jess privately clicker trained when he was six months old. Jess's method of training was perfect for us because we wanted a trainer that not only had the patience and caring for Oslo but was also patient and clear with training my husband and me. We also were aligned with Jess's philosophy of consistency and gentleness. Oslo loved Jess and sometimes he would board with her as well and loved to be with her dog, Gigo. Jess's knowledge of the right traing products and tools was very helpful as well. We felt better knowing Oslo should be crated in the car (we used to have him on our lap!), and should wear a harness vs. collar, to treat him with cheerios and carrots so he wouldn't gain weight, and how to do behavior modification with Oslo's problem areas ie, aggression with grooming. It is obvious that animals are Jess's passion and that she only wants what is best for your pet."

"I called Jess because Gambit, my Bernese Mountain Dog, was becoming "out of control" at age one year. He wasn't listening to commands, was entering a huge destructive phase and was strong enough to pull me off of my feet and did so on several occasions. Working with Jess one-on-one allowed her to observe my interactions with Gambit and offer suggestions to improve my communication with him. We used a device called a no-pull halter to curb the pulling behavior and it worked beautifully. This meant that he was no longer straining at his leash and choking himself, and I was no longer in danger of pulling my arm out of socket. While he pulls occasionally on a regular leash and collar, the minute I "refresh" him using the no-pull halter, he stops pulling and remembers the lesson for a long time (unless the dreaded squirrelcomes out of the tree- then all bets are off!). Perhaps the best was learning to train myself to train my dog. Using the clicker to signal Gambit as to what was the appropriate behavior I sought is incredibly effective. Jess is a wonderful trainer. She is deeply interested in the progress of her clients both human and animal and you can see her love of animals in every interaction she has with your pet."

"Jess Rollins, The Creature Teacher, offers a perfect balance between warmth and professionalism, just what's needed when training a new pup or re-training an older dog. Her affection for animals (and people), combined with a "positive" approach to shaping behavior are outstanding. My husband and I found her through a neighbor - and we just can't say enough about Jess' capacity to add value to the relationship between a dog, its environment, and its people."
