The Treat Training Tube will help teach your dog to bring toys back to you because although he can smell and see the treats, he can’t get them out without you! Here’s how it works:

1. Squeeze the side with slit opening and insert a yummy treat while your dog is watching.

2. Let your dog see and smell the treats in the tube.

3. Throw the tube a short distance (the treats won’t fall out). After he picks up the tube encourage him to come towards you with the tube. Try walking backwards while you talk to him, or crouching down.

4. When he brings the tube back to you, reward him by getting him a treat out of the tube.

Perfect for teaching scent work.

Hint: Once your dog understands how to retrieve the tube, you can give him a bigger challenge by hiding the tube and asking him to find it and bring it to you. The first time you do this, make it very easy for him by placing the tube under something but partially visible. Help him find the toy if he needs it. Progress to making the game more and more challenging for him. Remember, if you give your dog a job like this he will be less likely to make his own (like out of dismantling furniture!).
