There is a plastic buckle over the dogs back for convenience that is non-weight bearing. The tether includes high-grade aluminum carabineers which attach directly to the nylon straps of the harness. Bergan Travel Harnesses are tested and are made with strong, quality components. Beware of any car harness that uses plastic buckles for weight bearing as they will not hold up in an accident!

Sizing: Go by your dog's weight first. If your dog is on the border line, you can measure the girth (the barrel of the chest behind the front legs) to make sure you are getting the correct size.

Small: Fits dogs 15 to 25 lbs; Up to 20" girth. Example breeds: Cocker Spaniel, Beagle

Medium: Fits dogs 25 to 50 lbs; 16" to 28" girth. Example breeds: Dalmatian, Springer Spaniel

Large: Fits dogs 50 to 80 lbs; 26" to 40" girth. Example breeds: Boxer, German Shepherd, Labrador
